David Byrne Radio

Listen to Radio DavidByrne.com (sample plays: Cat Power, Biz Markie, Beyonce, Hendrix, Miles, etc.).

A friend who relocated to California from NY said she missed hearing all the odd variety of music that was played around the office here. "I miss hearing what you all are listening to," she wrote. This "radio" is my response.

Felafel Rankings

Checked out Chickpea the other night and man, that's some fine felafel (not to mention damn cheap). Required me to update my list of best felafels ever:

#1 Grandma Esti's homemade felafel (elevated even higher by the baba ganoush with slow roasted eggplant and LOTS of garlic)

#2 Chickpea in NYC (they've also got shewafel = shwarma + felafel combo)

#3 Pita Inn in Skokie, IL (delish kifta too)

Louis CK

Louis CK is a funny man. Go watch some clips at his site.

Weekend at John Paul's

Pope John Paul II is expected to silently bless the faithful Sunday from a window of the hospital treating him for a breathing crisis, his spokesman said Friday.

Anyone else getting a Weekend at Bernie's III vibe from all this?

And while we're on it, how on earth did Weekend at Bernie's II ever get made!? Were there lots of unanswered questions from the first one that needed to be resolved? Love this review of it at IMDB: "Full of more terrible ideas than any other movie in history. However, that might be the point."

When In Doubt, Danza!

Tony Danza loses it at the Gates. In related news, I still crack up every time i hear Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" cuz I swear that he's singing "hold me closer Tony Danza." And finally, Fred Armisen does a Tony impression on SNL!? Must find video. Danza, Danza, Danza!

W and Creedence

So G.W. likes to listen to Creedence on his iPod? Hmmm...gotta wonder what he thinks when he hears the words on, say, "Fortunate Son" (lyrics). Then again, I'm guessing he's more of a music-over-words guy.
